Hi, yes, very provocative title, I know. But one stumbles very often over the topic “brakes in the back totally rusted”, with the DS and also with the Evoque. And our DS does not look different (see picture #1). And from the inside it is even worse! There is almost everything rusted up to the middle. A very nice and competent LR expert told me that this is very often the case too and can only be improved with parts from the accessories. So now I have Brembo discs (0 8.C208.11) and coverings (P 86 029) for rear purchased and the small surfaces (gutschi-gutschi-guh!) placed on the disc to see if the “better fit” than the originals. And yes, they fit better, but there is still a damn wide strip left that is not braked (see pictures). I then made the effort to look at the dimensions of the other competitors, which are almost all identical. The largest are the ATE coverings, which are 1.6mm wider than B rembo (and the rest). But 1.6mm doesn’t save anything anymore… If you ask yourself who designed this braking system, where obviously the pads don’t fit the disc! The only positive thing about this is: changing the brake pads and discs is actually not much heavier than changing a wheel. And in the net, the parts cost about 50 euros for the pads and 75 euros for the discs, so 125 euros for the brakes at the rear complete. Then it’s not so bad, a 4 years to renew this misconception. What do you think? Greetings, Hauser
