Buick is hard to wake from sleep!

Hello dear motor talkers! Gradually I get to know my 1972 Buick Skylark 350 Coupé better. And I have the phenomenon that if he is standing quite hard to wake up from his sleep for a few days. You have to jock at least 5-6 times until the spark comes and starts clean. The Skylark has a noble brok carburetor installed with mech. petrol pump and choke. As soon as he jumps on and runs warm, I can make it on and off as often as possible without any problems. The workshop of my trust meant that he should start with the carburettor without a choke. How do you see that? Is this possibly due to a combination of fuel evaporation in the carburettor + return? What are the possibilities to get to the point here? Thanks already for your ideas! Phio
