I have driven both cars in the last two weeks. It must be noted that the SAAB is the better choice. The Volvo with the 2.4 liter engine 168 ps (in the US version) has no chance against the Saab (Linear 2.0T 175hp also if US version). The S60 is insanely lame – although it is already more expensive in the basic version than the stronger Saab. Go to the 2.4T with the Volvo you are almost $3000 above the Saab. The handling is also considerably better at the Saab. It is almost like a three-way BMW. 0, on the other hand, is heavy as an old E-Class (W124). As far as passive safety is concerned, I don’t think the two of them take much. Design? Both of them don’t pull me off the stool. The Saab is probably a little more sporty. The Volvo looks just good because older Volvos from the past were so creepy cubicist (S70, 740, 240). Is there anyone else’s opinion that the Saab wins this duel loosely? janulrich
