Hello, I hope the topic has landed in the right forum. We are looking for a large and robust third-party car for the holiday. The SUV is driven about 3. – 4.000 KM per year, the consumption is therefore to be neglected. More important to us are at least 4 single seats, a large interior width and (if the 3rd bench is extended) a large trunk. As “every day car” would be enough for us e.g. a VW Touareg/BMW X5, only for the holiday or the large purchase is the trunk too small for us…. “normal” Cadillac Escalade or the Lincoln Navigator noticeably more space??? (length/width) or should you rather take the long version? Who knows about these cars? (It will probably be a model from 2005/2006 – so not the whole new one!) On the paper the Cadillac sounds better: 6.0 instead of 5.4 liters V8, about 40hp more and also a lower consumption – the only PLUS with the Navigator is the German ZF 6-speed automatic…. which unfortunately does not show up with the consumption bem imaginable 🙁 During the 1-2 holidays per year we also drive to Eastern Europe, the cars with dirt roads, bad roads and deep potholes get along well? (It will NOT be the Rally Paris-Dakar – but many holes in the asphalt!) What do you say about Skid-Plate packages? Does a US import make a rust precaution useful? We ask for advice, tips and recommendations of all kinds! PS: Alternatively we might also be interested in a Chrysler Aspen or GMC Yukon Denali XL… but what about the leather, Ho Izdekor and the feel-good factor should Cadillac and Lincoln offer “something more” – or ???
