Hello, I wanted to start a survey who has problems with the gearbox or the clutch with his Corolla!! I drive a Corolla Sol 1.6 VVTi, EZ: 06/2003 with the time 55000 Km on the speedometer. For a few weeks now I hear a howling from the gearbox / differential / clutch when speeding (no matter in which gear) ? From the noise it is still most likely to compare with the rolling noise of coarsely profiled tires. If I let the car roll, the noise is quieter, when the clutch is kicked away. However, it has hardly become louder since the first occured. A workshop visit with my Toyota dealer also brought no final clarity about the coming of the howling. With the much praised reliability of Toyota vehicles I find it frightening that after only 55000 km of moderate driving the gearbox should be defective. I wonder now if anyone else has such a problem with a Corolla?
