Technical question: Can you treat timing belts gently ?

Hello, the V50 petrol is the interval for the timing belt I believe at 120,000 km. Is that correct and there is also a period in years ? So every 120,000 km and / or 8 years ? Does the driving method have an influence on the wear of the timing belt ? Many highway ride with low speed ( 3000-4000 Umdr ) reduces the risk of damage …? I am not a technician at all and have no idea of such things, but could think that constant city ride at high revolutions more strain the timing belt and one should change it earlier. Info: My V50 1.6l petrol engine is built 07/2005 and has now 46,000 KM on the clock. Annual mileage approx. 25,000-30,000 / year. in 2.5 years I would have reached the 120,000 km and the car is then 8 years old. Drive as good as only AUtobahn and rarely faster than 120km/H Thank you & Gruss E.
