Due to an Arte report, I have come across the technical word that I have been buzzing through defective products for a long time (phones, smartphones, printers…). Planned obsolescence (to be found in YouTube “buying for the garbage dump”) is the targeted product life limit. This is mainly true for consumer products in the low-price segment and the legislator has given the guarantee and warranty. For cars like the Phaeton and generally Volkswagen, the long life span has become a trademark. I can say that I absolutely disagree with the product life of rear wheel bearings at the Phaeton with 100.0 KM, if the vehicle was moved almost only with 2 people and does not know bad driving conditions at all. I do not hope that engineers will succumb to the temptation or instruction for individual “wear parts”. Quite innovative would be a central statement on the subject. Have fun Hermann
