Oil on the exhaust of Ford Escort 1.6 16V

Hello, have a problem with my Ford Escort 1.6 16V built in 1995. When I wanted to leave yesterday he jumped on, but was the whole time shortly before drinking. I then drove to the side and turned it off for a short time. When I wanted to start it again he didn’t jump on… I then noticed that the oil level was just below the minimum and filled up engine oil. I don’t know, however, if it could be due to the low oil level, that he didn’t jump any more. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a problem with my Ford Escort 1.6 16V built in 1995. g/no idea of cars. Strangely, however, I find that there was so little oil in it, although it was only filled up in December. Almost 1 litre was missing. Fortunately, it ran then, but after driving I noticed that a black liquid came out of the exhaust (probably oil). Now I can think why so much oil was missing, I guess never noticed that before. But what can this be about? Bzw. what can you do there? I was also told last time that with me the timing belt including water pump needs to be changed, can it somehow be related to it? Greeting, Toby
