Hello to each other! For our older grandfather we are looking for a replacement for his Escort 7 (circuit, step tail, 1.6 Zetec). After 19 years and just under 200tkm it is not very well placed for the car, that it would be worthwhile to invest even more money in the vehicle. Our most important thoughts on the topic ‘new car’: Against the background of the fact that the Lord has noticeable problems with the clutch (standing on the pedal, starting, switching, gear finding), we think of an A uto with automatic transmission. After some conversations with acquaintances and specialist lights about this topic, however, it seems to be anything but easy to interpret: On the one hand, it is madness to buy a new car with (hydraulic) clutch system, on the other hand, the question is in the room whether an unaccustomed after decades of switching on automatic and for him and other people is safe. Some say that it is no longer possible or not possible in old age. It is important to get used to automatics, the others see it as the last way to stay mobile in a certain area at all. I rather tend to venture the switch to automatics and think more precisely of a classic converter automatics in combination with limited/comparable engine power. There would then be an automatic step or a variomatics (perhaps even more useful). Alternatively, to the semi-automatic gearbox with dry-coup would still be to the semi-automatic gearbox. It is difficult to say whether the gentleman can get used to the fact that the car is slowly rolling off when the brake is released (converter) or whether it would not be better to find an automatic which only reacts when the engine is powered (semi-automatic/automated manual transmission). I think that you can start with the type of automatic transmission. I would like to discuss the subject with you and therefore ask for your help, as a meaningful decision has to be made. Thank you very much!
