Heaters – how do you handle it?

Hello to the round, I have read a good 50 articles here, and am now a little confused. I have admittedly never been busy with the topic, since the Tiguan Diesel automatically switches on the heater, even for short distance. I guessed so also with the Volvo. Yes, I know: after 8 years you should be informed accordingly. Ash about my head. I drive the XC but also only sporadically. Now however to the reason of my confusion. I have here among other things the following n Post found:In addition to its function as a comfortable room heating system, the heater has a second task: If the outside temperature has fallen below a certain value at the start – as for example now in winter – the operating diesel is preheated for better gasification. Does this mean that I don’t have to turn on the additional heater at all, because the heater is automatically switched on? Or has the author confused SHZ and heater here? Or is it possible here to do so. Questions about questions. I have switched the heater to “one” since today, despite the short distance. However, the car hangs on the CTek when it is not used, so I don’t think much about the battery (the biggest model of minor that fits into the box).
