PEUGEOT REFINES NEW FOR THE NEW YEAR – NEW MARKIDENTITY OF THE PEOPLEOn Friday, 8 January 2010, Peugeot presents his new brand identity. 2010 is a special year for Peugeot: 200 years of brand existence can be celebrated. What does the new brand identity look like? The lions from Paris have not yet revealed much. It is to be expected that the somewhat overstated design of the past years will be revised. In addition, a new designer at Peugeot is now in charge. Gilles Vidal, 37 years old, is the name of Peugeot’s new chief designer. He is under Jean-Pierre Ploué, the design manager of the PSA group. Gilles Vidal, a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Vevey (Switzerland), joined the group in 1996. He has been contributing to the renewal of the design language of the company alongside Jean-Pierre Ploué for nine years. Since the beginning of 2009, he has been responsible for the concept cars within Peugeot’s design department, such as the Peugeot BB1 electric car. On Friday, Peugeot will present a new logo. It will probably be subject to a redesign. The RCZ-Coupé, launched in spring, will be the first model to decorate the new logo. Peugeot’s new brand identity is urgently needed after Citroen presented a new identity last year. The sister brand passed by Peugeot this year. The lions seem old-fashioned. And another thing: Ansche In the meantime, Peugeot is planning to stop the successors of the 407 and 607 models and replace them with a 508. The probability is very high, because the 5008 has already launched the new 5 generation. Whether this will be announced on Friday remains to be seen. The successor model of 407/607 is most likely not presented, perhaps only one study of it. This should actually be presented to the public only at the Paris Motor Show in September. It’s a surprise.
