Hello, I ask for my parents-in-law, who own a VW Golf, which after 50 000km according to VW needs a motor replacement. It is a VW Golf 1.4 tsi 2009, which as said only 50k, service was always carried out in time. Suddenly the motor lamp started to shine at some point. At Mahag was the prognosis that one cylinder has too little compression (~7 instead of ~12 at the other). A repair costs according to Mahag 6000 € – 800€ !! We were told exactly the same thing. Recommendation was new original engine for approx. 600€. The car drives quite normally but always jerks something in the stand (after a few minutes in the stand). and then the motor lamp or the EPC lamp both glow. That’s why the car did not pass the TÜV. Unfortunately, my parents-in-law had to go abroad unplanned exactly at this time for a few months. TÜV has now also expired. So, the reason why I write here is a In addition to the engine damage, the car is in a top condition. We find it very hard that the car needs a new engine after only 50k. Thanks already in advance for any help/ advice.
