G400 – A call for help from the jungle

Dear Motor-Talker: I live in Nicaragua recently acquired a G400 CDI (BJ.2001, 146,000KM) and started to restore it. I got everything so far in terms of chassis, body and interior, but with the engine side I have problems, which I could not solve even despite intensive research so far: the car smokes heavily (black smoke under load) and has very little power. Kickdown also doesn’t work but I think this is a consequence of the failure. end performance… Since the only MB dealer on site refuses to accept the car in customer service (because it was not bought there, I am not even sure if the company already existed in 2001) I had to contact an independent workshop. Also have no information about maintenance work of the previous owner. The first scan revealed these two error messages (unfortunately in English): Code P2025 (Check component M16/5 (throttle valve actuator). Positioner signals lazy (me ssage through ground keying) and: Code P2036 (Check system N33/2 (Heater booster control module) Open circuit in Wiring My mechanic thinks the throttle valve has to be replaced. I’m not sure if the error message refers to a problem with the sensor or the wiring. Has someone here personally had a similar experience? Besides, the car is quite neat – in my opinion at least – but I have no experience of this vehicle type o I appreciate the tax chain probably has to be changed. Is there a method to confirm this? Thank you for your time and help.
