Hello together, since a short time we notice on our Mercedes SLK 200 compressor (motor code M271) a (significant) oil loss and strong burnt smell in the interior as soon as the engine was warmed up. By the search for forums we quickly found the valve cover seal as possible error cause. Since the spark plug shafts were already – like the complete VDD – all around oily and the oil was already on the sheet above the exhaust engine, we have these first together with the Unfortunately, the actual problem (oil loss/burnt smell) could not be solved. Already after a short drive the engine pushes the oil still on the side of the mudguard of the exhaust manifold. Where exactly the oil comes from is very difficult to locate. Although the VDD is now completely dry, however, the oil already stands after a short engine life on the sheet and forms an oil puddle. For easier description I have n This was created shortly after cleaning, so that there is not much oil visible – the supposed focus of the leak I circled around you red – by the wind the oil is probably pushed further backwards in the direction of the arrow. In addition, as described at the beginning, the burnt smell in the interior. I thought at first that this would be caused by the oil dripping on the hot exhaust manifold – when the engine is running however to note that the visible smoke rises from below – possibly at the height of the cats. Does someone happen to have an idea or are there experiences of users who had a similar problem? Thank you 🙂
