Hi, because of a noise discussion in another thread, a question to the experts: Does a healthy turbocharger whistle? (or does other noises?) If yes: Why and how? Background of the question: With today’s usual speeds > 200,000 rpm ~ 3000 rpm and “quantumation” of the gas flow through – let’s say – 12 turbine blades should actually play out in the ultrasonic range, be inaudible. Nevertheless, one reads quite often that also a healthy turbo whistle sounds vo The side components such as blow-off valves, wastegates, etc. can cause hissing and whistle sounds, should not be a topic here.
