Should the instructor ride on the motorcycle?

Hello, I have been reading here for some time and since it was only about the topic of motorcycle driver’s license again, I wanted to ask if you consider it important that the instructor rides with you during the training on the motorcycle. My instructor last year was an active driver himself and did the training really great. However, he only took the special rides himself on the motorcycle, the normal training hours did not. I personally did not find this at all bad, since I so while practicing through the driving school car was better to see and also sometimes had cover to the rear. Later, during the special rides, he went with the bike, partly also ahead, in order to be able to show me the right techniques directly, what really great worked out I found this procedure very good, but there are also always voices, that the riding instructor should always ride on the bike.
