For personal reasons, I have read quite a lot here about sawtooth and made an opinion about the best way to replace the tyres. To this I ask you to take a stand. My situation: just bought Golf IV, Conti Eco Contact summer tire, profile front 4.5 mm, profile rear 6.0 mm. I have just replaced the wheels front/back to achieve even wear. Now I have the vibrations and noise front, d When I examined the (current) front tyres, I noticed the saw tooth, on the outer sides of the tyres, which is responsible for the vibrations. So it was clear to me that this was not a good idea with the wheel change. Now I have collected the following information from the forum: 1. Saw tooth formation generally takes place on the non-drive axis. 2. From safety-relevant aspects should be on the r rear axle no worse tyres are mounted to maximize the life of the tyre set. Taking into account these aspects, I came up with the following idea, which will not be new, but did not appear here in the form of my knowledge. Here’s my suggestion (not direction-bound tyres!!): In the first alternating turn (e.g. after 10tkm) replace the wheels on the axles only left/right in order to compensate for the possible saw tooth. the sawtooth should be balanced. In the second alternating turn (after another 10tkm) the wheels at the front/back are replaced, the sides remain the same. I promise to wear the whole set of tires evenly and the sawtooth should not be large, since the tires have run equally much in both directions. That would not be “the classic” over cross, but divided into two turnsi. What do you think about this? If I were to work according to my model, ic h mount the “saw gears” from the front back to the rear, but on the side. Or on the contrary, I only switch left/right… if then the noise goes away? Let’s take this topic up again. I thank you for the answers in advance!
