Overvoltage protection at external start

For the current occasion, I also looked around for a third-party starter cable in the course of a new battery. For this purpose, there are the most different qualities. This time it was important to me that the cable is extremely long, because one of my vehicles is so parked that it is difficult to get there. But long also means that the cross-section has to be larger. In addition, it also depends on the overvoltage protection when choosing. You can also retrofit it. A well-known German Firm a offers something like this for 2 different cable diameters directly on the cable (the cable -8m- which I have in mind does not have that!).Other companies offer an overvoltage protection for mounting directly on the battery. My questions: 1. How effective is the whole thing at all? (It should also protect the pears from voltage peaks in normal operation) 2. Is there a difference between an overvoltage protection on the cable to an overvoltage protection on the battery? (I have scho scho 3. Should you still work with cables or not look for another way? For example: starter battery or capacitor technology. (I tend to a capacitor technology in person, because a) a starter battery after years is also empty, if I need it and b) the capacitor technology lasts a lifetime and shows no wear.) What do you mean?
