Changes to EuroNCAP 2009

In 2009, the EuroNCAP is expected to receive a number of changes that address some weaknesses. Among others: – fourth rating scale “Active safety” – i.e. equipment with ESP e.g. – introduction of a rear impact and examination of the effectiveness of headguards and seats (“Whiplash” – separation of the previous side impact points (previously 16 for side crash and 2 for pole crash, in future each 8 points) – consideration of the weight (since Elk_en had the fingers in play ) – inclusion of all vie r Assessment criteria in the main star evaluation (previously, practically only the occupant safety were called) (scale probably 50% passenger safety / 20% child safety / 20% pedestrian safety / 10% active safety – incl. devaluation when falling through in a discipline) Only the problem of differentiation and sorting old/new crash tests remains.
