Hi guys, I’m in the process of bringing the old family volvo to the fore, among other things I will soon install an air conditioner and make further repairs. Besides, I would like to help the still somewhat “undefined” sound in the car on the jumps; here I would like to ask you a little bit for advice, after I am not completely clumsy in the field, but also anything but savvy. Currently available: – JVC KD-R741BTE (2 x 2 channels, pre-amp- Out) – 2x Volvo 130mm Koax speaker in front doors – 2x Volvo 50mm tweeter in the D-pillars in the trunk – both pairs of speakers hang directly on the radio – Pioneer WX210a Active subwoofer under the driver’s seat (via pre-amp-out also directly on the radio) – Deep breath, who’s put the toenails up, most of it is not on my account Current master plan: – “Without insulation you don’t need to buy new speakers”: 1m2 2mm aluminum butyl per front door – sound comes from the front, how one always reads so nicely, therefore my idea: 130mm compo speakers (e.g. HERTZ DSK130.3), of which bass midrange speakers in the front doors, tweeters in the dashboard above – with probably some 2-channel power amplifier in front of the crossover? – Rearfill: pack the current 130mm coax speakers in the back doors, hang in the “back outputs” of the radio itself again crossovers, the lower frequencies to the new old rear door speakers and the higher frequencies Send to the tweeters in the trunk D columns – problem: old 130mm speakers have 4 ohms resistance, D-pillar tweeters 8 ohms -> Murks? Also to note: – Does it believe or (probably rather) not, the current sound image of the car is quite fun, there are good basses available and the small tweeters complement the somewhat washed-out Koax sound image with semi-beautiful spatial sound. However, the system obviously lacks powerful “low-middles”, clarity and conciseness. – If it is possible, with manageable effort or above all money, to get something out, I would very much like to do it; if you think that’s all for the bucket, is also fine – as I said, with the sound it can be lived. – I hope the topic is in the right forum. Thank you in advance and best regards, Nikolai
