As can be seen here: http://www.gapcom.de/faq.html#5, the chips in an engine are quite normal flashable (also used for PC motherboards) eeproms, PLCCs, etc. i.e. if I have a biosflasher at home (and I have that ) I could tune my chip myself (or optimize it)!? I assume that there are two different ways to optimize a software on the chip. a) You set optimized experience values, which w*****only each tuning workshop on a list However, since each engine (although it is identical) has to be adjusted differently, the method with the list values does not get everything out of every single engine. Therefore, there is certainly still the possibility b), which is certainly very time-consuming and very expensive at a tuning workshop (in addition, I believe that the workshops will not really bother) b) One tests with the optimized list values a bit back and forth, and looks at the values at which n really gets EVERYTHING out of a motor. However, this certainly requires a software that produces the individual EEPROM software code for the either different motor companies and/or the different ECUs. So I think a good tuning workshop must have such a software and a suitable EEPROM flasher. Hmmmm, the software is certainly copyable (I know that this would be illegal) too. And that w***** is even better than a tuning workshop would do. Only in order to be able to experiment with the values (or to measure the results) one would need to use a test bench. DDDDD Perhaps there is a method c), which would be that tuning workshop have a device, that they can connect to the control unit and flash the Rome directly. Thus one would develop and expand the annoying … and thus save a lot of time n. But I’m not sure because there are a lot of different ECUs and I don’t believe that the connectors (both hardware-like and software-like) are standardized. Sooooooooooo, write your opinion about it, or to what extent you think it can be realized, or maybe even jmd. of you know how a tuning workshop really sets the chip… etc. etc. The discussion round is opened with this!!!
