Piston eater Fiat Bravo

I need help and advice. I bought a Fiat Bravo with 103 HP in September. I’ve been driving since about 7500 km and have never looked for the oil. But hey, I only had it three months and my car should talk to me and tell me.. for example by a warning lamp that he needs oil again. At least that’s what my Fiat Punto did. By the way, the Bravo is built 03/2001. Well, long speech short meaning.. I then last week in the workshop So, totally white smoke out of the exhaust and totally stunk. In the workshop they told me, something like piston eaters. Is that normal that the Bravo swallows so much oil? By the way, before I approved it, it was out of traffic since July 2001 (so logged off). Can it have happened so long also something on the engine?? I just want to know now, if they blame me completely. n can.. that he now has a piston-eater. I actually have used car warranty and trust the dealer maybe not so much. After all, a lamp should have lighted up!!! And my Punto did not swallow as much oil as he does now. I would be very grateful for opinions. Because I hear something different from everywhere and would like to have more clarity.
