Hello, I drive a 98 V40 2.0T Since I have the car, a sound from the turbo (more or less) annoys me, which can be heard especially under load. It is best described with a “rattle” – a mixture of rattlesnake and a metallic sound (it is not a whistling!). Rather a kind of “snapping”, as if the power from the turbo is completely in order. Yesterday evening I dismantled the engine cover and the heat sheet and a little bit gengen It’s incredibly hard to locate. But what I noticed: at the seam (1) between the turbo and the front part of the exhaust is all white. I saved a photo here (or here): http://www.webcheck.de/fotos/images/turbo.jpg Can it be that there (under load) exhaust gas is pressed through and this produces the noise? I couldn’t smell an exhaust gas smell myself, even when my nose was almost on it 🙂 Something else comes to mind. Alternat In the photo you can see where the control bar sits on the “heel”, on the lever even small white tracks (2). I’m not sure (maybe it’s a coincidence) but when I pressed the shaft from the lever with a cloth, the sound has become quieter. If not, what can be considered for such a sound? Do you have ideas or tips? BoisBleu
