I have just calculated the car tax for a Phaeton V8 EZ 4/2008 with a car tax calculator (http://www.kfz-steuer.de/kfz-steuer_pkw-text.php). This is 283 €. For the same car, but with hypothetical EZ after 01.07.2009, the car tax is 472 Euro according to the computer. That’s already a bit happy.
