Driving physics assistance – Track adjustment ?

Hello dear forum, I got stuck in my mind today, because I don’t understand the following connection: I would have assumed that the steering wheel will still be power-free in the straight run if the track is wrong, just standing wrong. Somewhere must there be a mistake in my mind? Do I just drop the power steering and the sensor technology down in the back? Do you know a good contact point in the net or also literature to make some sense of it?
