Hello professionals, my Volvo V70 EZ 1997, 2.5L petrol, 144hp, with 365,000 km, loses massive oil on the steering gear for three weeks. Car stands now and is not moved anymore, loses too much. LecWec I poured in two weeks ago – unfortunately brought nothing. Who told me my free workshop that you can not repair the steering gear but buy and install it again that then in a little 1000-110€ cost I had already considered this as “economic total damage” and Now I think that you should do the repair, even if the V70 I has a few other flaws. Have read here in the forum, that you can get with various suppliers (e.g. Polar Parts) also outdated steering gears for 250-300€, or “no-name” products. Does anyone know a screwdriver in the Rhine-Main area, who performs the repair of a steering gear? Or a screwdriver, who gets the general overhauled and installs it? Or should I look around for a new V70 III. order it on the internet and have my workshop installed (but don’t know if it does)? With an outdated steering gear, it would have to cost approx. 650-800€ including installation. Does this work? Does it work somehow cheaper? Do you have experience with outdated steering gears? Does it make sense to invest this from your point of view? How long does a clutch hold at the V70 I? I rather drive long distance. At 140,000km the clutch was changed. Now there are 365,000 on the clock. Greetings, Windmann
