Servus, here I would like to post my own experience, with a diesel engine, in extreme short-range operation. Should not now degenerate in a discussion, why then I prefer not to take a petrol engine, or even a vehicle at all…..! Up to 3 months ago I drove for 5 years a new XC60, D5 AWD, hand switch (Mod. 2011) with 205hp. My track profile is anything but motor-friendly for a diesel (or perhaps generally for a motor), but no matter, here the report: Every T ag 2km to work and back home, on the WE maybe 10-20km at a time, sometimes longer trips of 50-100km, but very rare, about 2x in the year holiday trips of several 100km. Driving performance in the 5 years: 47,000km In the whole 5 years only after 4.5 years, the first time the warning message for engine maintenance appeared. So to the . Oil level was too high, 0.5l sucked off and everything was again OK. It was also read out the error memory and stood here: The system wanted to say and write 480x r I had always feared that I would have to go to the workshop many times because of the oil thinning. Fortunately, this did not come true. Since November, I have had a new XC60, D4 AWD (190hp) automatic and hope to be just as happy with it. VG, Pelze
