Defected engine control after update??

Hello, I’m new here and have a question: at our Corolla Verso Diesel 177 PS BJ 2006 the fault lamp and the TRC and VCR display lit up. After the vehicle was checked by the dealer for errors, it was said that the ARC valve should be cleaned and the pressure difference tube should be cleaned. As a layman you take that. We left the car there and got a call from the dealership a few hours later that the original problem was fixed, but by a durc hled software update, which must probably be carried out in the context of maintenance, a mistake has arisen which has led to the fact that our engine control unit is now defective and that the car is no longer ready to drive. Repair costs over 1000€. One has made a bulwark request, but decision is open! It can not be that the workshop builds such a bug and then we remain at the expense, doesn’t it??Has anyone had similar experiences about this?? Would be very happy about as soon as possible feedback, as we are quite shocked!
