Detailed XC90 D5 test drive

Hiho together, the days I had the opportunity to test an XC90 D5 in detail (about 500 km). The route was about 30% highway, 20% highway with speed limit 100-130 and 50% highway without limit. Complete route very winding with uphill and downhill. So to make it short the KNALLER… Since I was very spoiled by the engine of my last car (BMW 3.0 Diesel) I had serious concerns about the driving performance. It was already written a lot about it. But I can You calm down, the D5 is relatively fast. Up to 80 a bit grumpy, but for over 2 tons ok. Up to 160 you can keep up quite well on the highway. After that it becomes a bit tough. From 200 is then finished. More I could not test because of the winter tires, would certainly not have gone much. So I would not have thought it possible, am very positively surprised. The automatic switches almost imperceptibly with silky soft transitions. Car is very quiet, at 180 only a weni g Wind noise, you can talk normally. Chassis and road position very comfortable, no problem in fast driven motorway curves. Top brakes. Seats and ergonomics perfect. Strange is the Navi. The female voicers are totally annoying, which takes a bit of an important part. The guy in the RTI sounds like the computer game, which threatens with the attack of the next crossing. The graphics with double screen is very well done. The maps are unfortunately a bit flat, that can be other The operation is extremely simple and intuitive. Criticism of the Navi: (1) When I enter a road without a house number as a destination, the RTI seems to accept the middle of the road as a final destination. However, if I want to go to house number 1, and then somewhere else without ever reaching the middle of the road, the destination remains in the road plan. When calculating the next destination, strange distances and times are displayed. Only when the last track point has been deleted, i (2) I have unfortunately not found the function of the address book. I can enter my most important goals in an address book with other manufacturers and do not have to re-enter them again and again. Sure, if I start the same address again and again I should know the way, you are right, but if I always start the known destination from a new direction the Navi is helpful. Yes *RTFM* already clear, maybe I should first read the manual and then my criticisms are done. Unfortunately I never had a Volvo RTI and in the XC90 only little time. Anyway, I’m sure to have ordered the right car !! Look forward to your new elk, it’s worth it !
