Engine damage after 68,000 on the V50

Hello community, have a really sad topic. I bought a brand new volvo V50 (2.0 diesel) in 01/2006. Was actually always satisfied with the vehicle and had the V50 regularly according to the service booklet at the authorized dealer’s for inspection. Because of family growth I had to switch to a larger vehicle and have left the part at the beginning of the year my parents-in-law (until then the car had run about 56,000 km). My parents-in-law had the inspection at the Volvo dealer directly and were also very satisfied. 2 weeks ago now on the highway (without notice) report in the on-board computer: engine maintenance. Afterwards the parents-in-law, after you drove down from the motorway, are to the roadside and have looked after. Vehicle then no longer jumped….. Diagnosis after return to the dealer (on a car transporter!!!) Capitaler engine damage, after the turbocharger broke and the whole ÖL of the engine sucked up. Volvo now wants to take on 50% of the costs (sage and writing 9600 Euro) can not be anything else? Does Volvo? Did anything else happen??
