Hi people, I have just broken a real fight about “driving in” from the fence. I know that I’m quite overdoing it, but I still have to say that there are still some “driving-in rules” in my bike (Kawa ZX6R max. speed 15000 rpm) were allowed in the first 500km also only 4000 rpm. So my point of view: 1. A new engine MUST be driven in! 2. In the example of a 1.9 TDI engine the following rules: a) Maximum speed during the first 500km is half of the nominal speed (which is behind the performance in appearance). b) After 1000km in the last gear the speeds have to be slowed down and thus the speed is increased g) Up to 2500 once on the BAB and then to the dealer for new LongLife oil. 3. Even after the start of a cold drive can’t be stopped.
