Hello, I want to get a SLK in the spring. Now I am actually someone who buys rather well-kept old cars (7-10 years old) with little mileage (< 100,000 km). You have to expect more repairs and do without one or the other technical innovation, but save a lot of money. I would tend to a R170, 230 compressor with manual transmission, year 2000 or younger and would like to spend around the EUR 10,000. In the well-known sales exchanges in the Nederland tz I find a lot of choice. A friend of mine drives a R171 and said that I have the extra costs back in only because of the lower consumption after three years (I plan with approx. 15,000 km per year). Is that so? The plant data are combined with the old 230 compressor at 9.8 L, with the new 200 compressor with 163 hp a good 1 litre less. But for that also 20 hp is missing. So one liter would not expect, as I have to lay for a R171 good EUR 6,000 more. Are there other things besides the more chic look (which is not so important to me, I want to drive the car and don't look at it) that are significantly better with the R171? Furthermore, I have doubts about buying a car from one of the first series at the R171 year 2005/6. It is no secret that many mistakes in the design and production are only noticeable with the customer and then are gradually improved by the manufacturers at later years of construction. tend to R170 to Facelift. Thank you for a few tips Greetings Thomas
