hello to everyone. I have a problem with my 390 engine and despair slowly. here are the rim data of the vehicle and the engine: mercury colony park, year of construction 1964 390 engine, slightly modified with sharper camshaft and larger pistons, among others 600 edelbrock carburetor (new) pertronix ignition III ignition distributor with ignition coil and digital adjustable speed limiter the following problem has the car. after a short drive the mercury does not take the gas anymore and only from a best immten speed, which depends on the motor temperature. at the beginning I can turn it to approx. 3000 u/min, with increasing motor temperature the maximum possible speed drops to approx. 2400 u/min. the c6 transmission is in the 3rd gear. (three-speed automatic). I then go from the gas and keep it lowers the setters. I then have to reduce the gas even further until it settles again. one remains manually in the 2nd gear, the speed increases, which can be reached, at the beginning 3500 u/min and then decreases accordingly. it seems as if it runs into an imaginary speed limiter, whose limit is always lower, the warmer the motor becomes. the pertronix module of the speed limit with the red leuchtdiode seems to be defective, at least you can no longer initialize the thing after specification. another hint: ignition cables, candles, distribution cap, fingers are new. the wiring of all components is correct. the carburettor is new. petrol filter and pump can be excluded. the motor gets enough sprite in every area. in principle it runs well to very well. the motor willingly hangs on the gas. the electronic cold start automatic of the edelbrock works perfectly. my workshop master and I are with our Latin at the end. has any of you ever had problems with defective pertronix ignition distributors or related components? can the defective module or the flotation force adjustment or the ignition coil trigger such symptoms? am grateful about every tip.
