Liability insurance possible without a car ?

Hello community ! I’m new here and I have a probably unusual question. I live with my family center close to a larger city. 6 years ago we realized that we hardly need our car. Everything is easy to reach by bicycle and public transport. Since then we have sold the car ind without. I drove 21 years accident-free and thus had the damage-free discount of 30, 33%. My insurer at that time said that it remains for 7 years and I immediately afterwards to 100 or 150 % ???? to be upgraded. Now you never know what life is like, tomorrow I may have to move somewhere else and need a car again. How could I keep my damage-free discount as cheap as possible? Would it be enough if I bought a motor and deposited the home somewhere? So then pay the car tax and the liability further ? Or should I just put a cheap vehicle on the road ? Thanks for your help ! Michael
