Hello, I have a question about the oil cycle or set-up oil pressure for the primary chain oiler at my Shovel year 1981 (before I try and disassemble everything possible……): I made engine oil change for the start of the season. Old oil from tank drained, primary oil mist residues from primary drained, filter (in-tank filter) removed. Since I had ordered the new filter and had not yet received it, so I wanted to retrofit it a few days later, and my tank cover seal, which was pretty much But it was fine. Since the inspection cover on the primary box was already open anyway, I thought, I leave the engine on for a short time with an open cover and make sure that in the primary box also oil is actually injected into the primary by means of this encoder, you never know……If I have time and desire, I want the pri I had the oil tank cover – without its seal and without oil filter – only temporarily screwed onto the tank. Now it comes: engine runs. No splashes from the oil encoder. engine off. For control times the oil encoder itself and also the clutch basket (through the clutch cover) wiped nicely dry. Engine on again, run briefly, engine off. Result: Everything in the primary remains dry, no oil nebula is removed. My question: I assume that this is because the oil cycle could not build up any pressure because of the not closed oil tank and therefore the oil encoder for the primary box was not supplied (for the engine itself, according to the oil pressure meter, there was almost 50 PSI oil pressure). Hopefully, my assumption is correct and not the oil pump in the bucket. However, this should be rather improbable, because before the -not finished – oil change the primary box gets oil I would be grateful for (settling?) tips. Greetings Shovelix 81
