I’m still looking for suitable winter tyres for my Audi A3 Sportback. Actually, I wanted the Dunlop Winter Sports 3 D in 225/45 R17. Unfortunately, not available in this format at the moment. Well, so I got out various winter ice tests (Powercar, Good Ride, Auto Bild sportscars) as well as looking for information on the net. What’s irritating now are the strangely different test results. For example, the Pirelli Sottozero (in 225 format) cuts in the Powercar test in No.5 2 006 in third place – second place on wet, so he loses a year later clearly in the dimension 205, and is now suddenly very bad on wet. The “good ride” in issue 10/07 classed the Piirelli again as good at wet. What then? How serious can one take the tests, and are the shown differences (Aqauaplaning e.g. 76.7 k/mh at the best tire to maybe 72.3 k/mh) really so serious? Greeting Swallow
