Automatically switch back

Hi ! My omi is just on edge when painting. As a transition solution I drive the 325 TDS from my father with automatic. Is the same engine/gear as in the 2.5 TD. Is my first automatic. I have driven with it now maybe 150-200 km. Now my question: Can you prevent the gearbox from having to give a little acceleration or a little bit more gas to keep the speed back? (Note: I give only a little bit of speed) more gas, so don’t make a kickdown)? I mean, it’s quite commod, but what’s always a bit annoying to me is just to switch back early in my opinion. Is the automatic actually self-learning? I mean it would have improved or adapted its switching points a bit. What’s it like compared to other automatic transmissions (especially newer automatics with 6 gears) ? Sorry for the stupid questions, but is my first automatic experience Previously there was only hand switch I ask, since my next car is also perhaps to become an automatic. Greetings Karle
