Hello, so now it has happened with me, even more abroad 🙁 At approx. 148 tkm and 14 years a little early…. On the third day of a multi-day pass tour, in the morning (before we went up the first pass of the day), at approx. 40-50 kmh slightly uphill: a “Schnalzer” and then “rien ne va plus”, rolled out 15-20m, all lights on…. Diagnosis of the next MB workshop: crack of the control chain by breaking the right slide rail (viewed from the front). l & candles they have removed and with light camera looked inside the pistons, which did not carry any damage from it. Valves they could not check without further cost…. I connect a few photos: – on Pic 1 you see the torn chain (left) – on Pic 2 the chain has laid over each other (right) – on Pic 5, 8 and 9 you see the broken plastic part (is relatively large the thing, so about 15-20 cm long and 10 cm wide….is that at all the sliding rail ?) I will have the car brought to Ö now, and have the engine repaired (option 1) or a replacement engine (option 2) remembered, if a repair does not seem useful. Since the pistons seem OK and the whole thing happened at low speed, I hope for a repair possibility. For tips and information I am grateful, what should be exchanged with an engine revision even more immediately: e.g. – all sliding rails, also the lower – valve bridges etc ………….
