Oil change due – which oil for short distance

The oil change for our C4 Picasso I is about to take place. Become a Mac Oil driver during my lunch break. I am just wondering if I should take a 0W40 instead of 5W-40 this time for the winter. The Picasso is tormented by my wife very many short distances, twice daily each 3km. The engine does so so far without complaint (wood knock…). I think that a 0W40 for the engine will be gentler because the oil snows at cold start, especially at -10 degrees or even less. The good eats about half a litre of oil per 1000 km. Would that be positive, negative or not at all with a “thin” oil? The change with 5W40 costs 49.99 and with 0W40 69.99. So I wouldn’t care about the price, the 20 tacks back or forth.
