Battery – short circuit – came together while bridging poles. Could what have happened?

Hello everybody, something not so pleasant happened to me just before and now make me a head over it: When I bridged the cables I got together twice for a short time. That means 2 times a short circuit of the poles for maybe half a second. I found no other thread now, so I create a new one here. There were logically more violent sparks but also managed to bring the cables apart quickly. But I couldn’t prevent it, that they came together a second time. Hmmm, okay, it’s happened now. I can imagine that it wasn’t good; especially for the battery. I couldn’t check the vehicle electronics for function anymore, but at the same time I assume that it didn’t damage it. What happened now from a technical point of view? The battery suffered a short circuit for a short time. This caused an extremely high discharge due to the low-resistance bridge cable. I think it was too short together that cables and wires could get warm. What happened now (in) the battery? I would now like to know and so calm my conscience, if the battery and/or the onboard electronics could have happened or if that has not done anything yet?
