Hello guys, I need your expert advice: Since May 2007 I have leased an A3 with the following conditions: duration 48 months, mileage leasing (20,000 km per year), deposit 20% of the gross list price (LP then 29,500 EUR, down payment thus 5,900 EUR), monthly leasing rate 216,00 EUR. Now it’s the case that I have a new job since spring, and thus I drive considerably more than is actually planned. Already now I have 71,000 km on it. Until the end of May 2011 it will be I have contacted my dealer and asked if I could terminate the lease early. I would then like to replace the car (have the money on a daily money account, and at the moment there is little interest anyway) and take over the A3 itself. I would have to pay at the moment around 17.900 EUR redemption. In addition, there is an advance compensation of 510 EUR (whether this is the Volkswagen Leasing or the dealer). My question to you: what would you do? I’m torn back and forth. On the one hand, the car would finally be mine, on the other hand, comparable A3’s at mobile.de are already traded for about 14.500 EUR at the moment. Wouldn’t it be more sensible to let the leasing continue to the end of the contract despite the multi-kilometres? Could it be that this comes to me at the end nevertheless cheaper, and that I at premature Überna hme actually would only be the stupid one, because I would possibly take over the residual value risk that the dealer would actually have to bear? What do you think?
