  • Corrosion on the fender

Hello Saab friends, I unfortunately found a rusting on the left fender today and then dismantled the fender. Of course, it would be best if I could find both fenders somewhere without rust damage and best in blue metallic “Body colour: 257 Midnight Blue”. Until then I will deal with the preparation of the rust spots and would be very happy about tips on the following points: – how and by what means completely remove the rust – how and by what means then correct the holes – and finally, by what means and in what order then rebuild the varnish. Thanks in advance for your help rpe 9000

  • Belt jumps

I have now had the phenomenon twice in the interval of four weeks that the flat belt on the pulley on the 9000 Turbo 2,3 (BJ 94) jumps right up the front when you open the hood. Rolls and straps are ripped and the belt then only runs on three grooves over the roll. I then got on it again, went very hard, so much so you would put a bicycle chain on it again. The strap is so tight, but not as tight as before. I wonder now whether the strap has just been chanted and I just put on a new one or if the pulley tensioner is over there if necessary. How can I find out and how is it blown. The tensioner looks like such a claustrophobic shock absorber.

  • Mineral oil vesus Synthetic oil

Hi, by the people at www.saab-parts.eu I now got a longer e-mail, where with detailed reasons is warned of the use of synthetic motor oils. (e.g. “…absolutely lethal”. Main reason: at the cold start low quantities of gasoline would be landed in the oil. With mineral oils no problem, but petrol does not deal with synthetic oils, which ultimately leads to oil sludge, burnout and clogged oil sieve. If the oil sieve is dense, the engine is quickly over. It is also justified that the flat part of the oil tank lies directly above the cat, thus very hot, which leads to the loss of the synthetic oil gasoline mixture. Urgent advice: expand oil sieves and clean and only take mineral oil (e.g. 10W-30/40). For a Saab engine is the expensive Snynthetiköl nothing. • Ignition cassette and 8 V

Hello, my 9000er received a new ignition cassette in November 2011 and then drove 40,000. Always start completely without any problems. Now suddenly 2x a little delayed and now almost no more: 3 x 6 seconds without success. At the 4th time it went on … I had the ignition cassette in suspicion and thought about replacing it. The one from the Saab workshop in Augsburg said that I should recharge the battery. At the next start the voltmeter actually only showed 7.1 volts at the start process, although the starter turned as quickly as usual. After charging with the good C-Tek it again showed 11,1 volts and started as usual quickly. Question: Is it possible that the ignition cassette does not generate enough sparks at low volts even though the starter spins as usual? I already think to buy an ignition cassette so that I have been lying down because I have already stayed with a defective cassette. The battery is renewed in October 2012, so it would have to be good. The car is usually driven in short traffic (about 8 km?) Like Jens?

  • Saab 9000i: No limited top speed?

Hello to each other, with my Saab 9000i Bj. 89 (128hp) I noticed more often (of course only if the AB is empty… ), that there is no limit to the maximum speed due to the wind resistance … is that right? That means in plain language that I can drive in the 5th course up to the speed limiter (speed indicator is then about 220 km/h). But so that the engine does not run into the red dashed area (which one should only use at short notice), I have to go off the gas. I have the feeling that the car runs without speed limiter at least 230-240 km/h, is that also so with you?! Greeting Gizmon

  • Small accident with CV

Yesterday my wife made a little “aua” to her Verso. When she parked, she was stuck with the threshold on the right side of a hard-to-seeable stone. The threshold almost doesn’t glow at all, only minimally at the upper edge. But it is rather palpable instead of visible. What do you think, what costs such a thing? What repair method is in question? The “accident” happened on a service trip for her employer, i.e. she was on the way on behalf of the company (outside service with the private car, there is mileage of 30 cents/km tax-free). She carries out the thing today before her boss, on the Internet I quickly found some information which says that the employer has to pay the damage provided there is no gross negligence (was not available). Does someone know? Yes I know, the box has to be washed again…. Uh… picture comes immediately, must use the other browser, with Safari the upload does not work (is only MT so???)!

  • Purchase decision Auris Luna 1,4l

Hello, at the moment I drive a Golf IV TDI. But he has to go away. Would you like to buy a petrol truck now, because I don’t drive so much anymore. Find the new Auris really great. Have already done a test drive with the 1.4l Auris. The engine performance is by no means comparable to my golf, but was also not disappointed on the test track. Now my questions: Does anyone drive the 1.4l variant here? Is the performance satisfactory? Or should you take the 1.6l variant? Greeting

  • Buying advice Toyota Corolla TS 1.8 VS Ford Focus ST170

Hello together I finished my training a short time ago and now I want to get a new car in mid June. At the moment I drive an old Corsa A 1.2 (45hp / four-speed gearbox). Since I want to inform myself early and have already made a certain choice I wanted to hear your opinion now, if possible. Since I want to spend between 9000 and 12000 Eur and want to drive with this purchased car quite still 5 to 6 years my older choice is on a (neededed) Toyota Corolla TS 1.8 or Ford Focus ST170. Now I have already inquired in various driving reports about the 2 cars. Especially with the Toyota makes me the constantly repeating statement that he allegedly pulls at low speeds so badly (despite the 190hp) . Since it is not about the final speed I now ask myself if I would not drive better with the Ford. I will now of course try to set up test drives in the next time but as already said in advance of you maybe get a little feedback about the end speed.

  • Operation MIB3 Infotainment

I’m kind of friends with the MIB3 infontainment (9.2) in the model year21. On one side it’s big and impressive. On the other side the menu guide is still a bit cumbersome for me at the moment. In navigation there are settings that can only be set up with activated target guide, others you have to set up in the setup menu. Currently I have failed to change the map view to 3D only at the moment. Some settings in the area Setup Auto are probably missing to the previous model or are accommodated in some new category. Man must get used to it. What is still noticeable to me at the moment: – In Bluetooth connection with the mobile phone and the addition of favorites contact images are totally pixelized if probably the source image on the mobile phone has original size. – If you go back in the settings in the menu to come back to 8 of 10 cases always again into the main menu. Some annoying, that you have to click back into the menu once again. – The connection after the engine start is more likely to be used.

  • Question on the behaviour of the (after-activated) VZE

Hello again… I have activated the VZE with my car with MIB2 and Standardnavi via the “Car Scanner” app and now have some questions about the display behavior. Scenario 1: Digital cockpit in “Classic” display with Navicard. Navimode also on the multimedia display. Target guidance is not active. Speed limitation small in the upper area of the DC and at the top right of the MM. In case of overtaking prohibition only speed limitation in the DC and MM. See picture 1. I place Navicard on MM Display speed limitation and overtaking prohibition on the left edge are displayed above each other. Scenario 2: DC in one of the three freely configurable modes with traffic sign detection. Navimode also on the multimedia display. Target guidance is not active. Speed limitation in the “main area” of the DC and at the top right of the MM. In case of overtaking prohibition the overtaking prohibition sign in the DC appears next to the speed limitation and in the MM overlap both on the top right. Image 2. Overtaking prohibition is almost not recognizable.
