Moin together, unfortunately a more than stupid misadventure happened to me. I tipped about 10 liters AdBlue into the diesel tank with a rental vehicle (Mercedes Benz 816 Bj. 2014 ). So this is when you drive after several years again trucks and then get also still incomplete information at the tank … I then drove about 2 km to the place of the provider and then the vehicle went out already. But the engine turned still. Now I got the invoice over 7500,- Euro !?! The damage was fixed by a MB contract workshop. Lt this invoice was based on a fixed price package and probably the whole fuel plant replaced. Even pipes have been completely renewed… No prices for parts or services can be seen from the invoice. My question to you: Is this procedure normal? Isn’t it rather the case that the parts are cleaned and flushed? What makes me stubborn is the long workshop time of 13 days. does not even need my workshop if it has to order parts from Sweden for my old Volvo… Would be nice if someone could help me with my questions.

Renault/Berliet/Saviem-Thred
Hello Kolegas, I think we need a Reno-Thred in which you can ask questions about this brand (I mean less “Why does my mirror heating in the Magnum e-tech not work more than ask about the vehicle history). I hope that I can also contribute a little bit, and I hope that’s fine (…@mods). And here’s my first question: For the “Major” series from 1990 on in the R-series there were 4 drivers’ houses: Turboliner, Duplex …and how do the other two raise? LG Thom ed

Sporty Young(Wait-)timer Porsche 928 vs. Bmw 8 Series vs. Mercedes SL R129
Hello, I wanted to encourage a small exchange of views about the three models mentioned. Since I am currently looking for a mobile kit with fun potential, I have once targeted the three models mentioned. The 928 actually exerts most fascination on me, since childhood days, distinctive form combined with luxury and sportiness, but it seems to me to be also the most expensive in the maintenance. s 840) is for me more the elegant GT, with the typical BMW (large series) charm. For this it offers a little more understatement and should be a little more practical and cheaper in maintenance. The Mercedes more appeals to the cool computer in me, stable demand and value resistance in combination with the comparatively low-maintenance 6-cylinder and the typical Mercedes flair of the early nineties. Which would you prefer? What advantages and disadvantages do the individual models have? delle from your point of view? Greetings Donnerschlag

Cars from the ’60s/70s after 8 years?
Is it true that the cars in the 60s and 70s only kept 7-8 years and then were worn out. e.g. rust and that a car with 100Tsd Km was often considered clinically dead? Did there just have a little conversation with a colleague.Since I was born in the early 70s and my first car was from 1978, I miss the historical knowledge (grins).Since I have logically only bootsed over scrapyards in the early 90s. can’t imagine what kind of a tailflos Besagater colleague said that if the cars survived longer it was only thanks to the owners (conservation). The most extreme thing he had was an R4 that was finished after 4 years.

Why do people like vintage cars or older cars?
Why do people love old cars more often? Answers like “they were still cars” or “just to repair” or “they looked like something at least” are often heard. But what was it like back then? At that time, newer cars were quieter and so the previous model out and too loud etc. 10 years later, this model was again top. Why? Today’s cars are also boring in my eyes and all the same, except for a few things like the Smart Roadstar. What’s the appeal? Of course… An old Cadillac looks like something. Reigned and with a face in the sheet metal. But that’s probably the way the others of the time thought, at other brands… So what brought you to the vintage car? Would interest me. With me it’s probably the sick man to be able to separate from nothing. But most of the time it’s memories with the vehicle….

Convert W116 to diesel
Hello, I have someone at hand who has equipped several old cars with different types of diesels, e.g. a W116 with BMW 6-cylinder diesel, etc. We want to install the 300 diesel from the W124 in my top-restored W116! Fit the engine and transmission, join the cardan shafts, etc. is not at all a thing. The question is, is the control of the transmission? The W116 works with compressed air when switching. The W124 maybe about electricals. I need sound information whether this is to be The W126 was produced with this diesel still to the end. Since my brother is a farmer, and I fill there for free, please do not teach about gas or blasphemy I build into the part a diesel, without if and but! Greetings from Hanover or North Frisia Sascha

Three questions for my Volvo 245 (250 Tkm + 24 years)
Hello everyone, now three small questions for the “permanent-voluntary” maintenance of my car (Volvo245): A.-Tacho, i.e. Km-Zeiger falls out from time to time, i.e., suddenly shows zero speed – especially in case of imbalances on the road – and then later on it shows correctly again. Now the cable can be broken or any connection up or down. ? B.- Exhaust is obsessed in different points, but still holds good and is TÜV constant Well, there are some solutions for o you have to change it completely. Any company for the first piece (e) ? C.- Headlights have become inside dirty-black, so hardly mirror reflection. Did this (a glass of which is broken) want to clean somehow and exchange glass. Well, you have to exchange the whole parabell or just wash the front glasses and then the parabell (inner mirrors) ? What with then ? For your advice would be very grateful to you ! Greetings from Spain, Spain

Weber carburetor retrofitting in the Ford Capri II 1.6 GT
Hello motor talk I’m recently owner of a Ford Capri, it’s my first car. Now I want to upgrade Weber carburetor. I don’t want to make a Porsche killer out of it, but just more sound (although the “normal” sound is already great) and 3/4 hp more. Does anyone have any experience with it? What are the costs? Tips I can use well. I don’t want to assemble and adjust them myself, I have a good garage for it. Here are the technical data: Ford Capri mk2 1600 GT LG

Of course the Giulia Nuova is not quite as beautiful as the old Giulia ia Super. But did you miss the old Charackter cover in the back. Otherwise I don’t stop anything from remodeling New to Old. Please let me know, there has to be someone else here? Greetings, Andreas

6V starter compared to 12V starter defect?
Hello dear oldtimer expert My 50s US Oldi drives with 6V. Now I have replaced the charging controller and the battery. The starter still turns quite slowly, compared to a converted 12V-Oldie almost the same year. After a 30 min. exit with stop tanking, the car stopped. First I also typed alternator or charging controller, but an acquaintance thinks it is the starter. This must turn immediately like a 12V starter, is that so? on your opinion!
