  • Presentation – new XC70 driver from Vienna …

Hello and greetings from Vienna! We have recently our first Volvo – a 2006 XC70 D5 Momentum AWD Geartronic with approx. 100.000km, and therefore I would like to introduce myself briefly: I live with my wife and two rather larger dogs – Leonbergern – in beautiful Vienna. My first car was a Citroen GSA X3, built in 1983. After two rather colourless VW Golfs (II and III, 70 and 90 HP) my wife brought me back to Citroen – she brought me a BX 1 9TZD into the relationship – that was 1996 and from that time on there was always at least one Citroen in the household. Before the purchase of the Volvo we drove two C5 Breaks – a C5 I Break (2.0 HDI 90 X, built in 2003 ) and a C5 II Break (2.0 HDI 135 Exclusive, built in 2005). By the way, I am looking forward to the spring again, to be able to make the streets insecure with our “Goddess” (D-Special, 99 HP, built in 1973, Pallas-equipment …) – this is just hibernation. Since we have a Woc Henendhaus in remote forest location in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel (located on a forest path – with short but steep access), a four-wheeled vehicle has somehow pushed itself in the last years … Further criteria were a large and also above the “belt line” usable (so not coupé-like fashionable) trunk with not too high loading edge (because of the dogs with a total weight of 130kg as a passenger) and a not too commercial vehicle-like driving comfort … That’s why So now the XC70! In the last three weeks we have already driven about 900km and so far completely satisfied – compared to a Citroen the Volvo “feel” of course different … Also the all-wheel qualities in the snow and in the mud we were able to test extensively. The consumption (first tank filling) is currently already over 9 liters … However, of course with heavy testing of the all-wheel abilities etc. On the highway it should thus 0.5 to 1 liter more than our C 5 II Break consume at the same speed. Now I hope that all this was not too lengthy and I am looking forward to a lively exchange and many interesting posts here in the forum!

  • Alternator defective

Hello dear forum, My alternator in the V50 T5 2008 makes very annoying noises/vibrations. Already for a long time, but now acute. I want to exchange them and would like to know. 1. How is the belt tensioned. Is there a pulley? 2. Does someone have a part number? On the alternator is a paper, however, the completely futile. Belts and if there is pulley I would also exchange. Does someone have a part number? 3. Does anyone possibly have a repair instruction? 4. Should anything else be exchanged, or considered?

  • My new (old) moose

Dear Volvisti of the newer generations, I have been driving a Volvo 850 with 170hp since 1995 and therefore for over 25 years. Now I have to separate from my loyal companion after more than 350,000km, because after various repairs the crankshaft immersing has broken. Unfortunately I am not the big screwdriver and therefore a repair for me is no longer economical, although the otherwise still good in shot. Yesterday I got an XC60 D4 automatic from 2015, 102,000km a uf the watch, bought with very good equipment. Actually, I never wanted an SUV, not even a diesel and automatic anyway. Short speech, long meaning: I’m curious if the XC60 can make my beloved 850 forget.

  • Opel Omega 2.0 16V engine broken what to do?………..

Good day together, I start like this, some time ago, while driving on the highway of the engine (or something in the front) went up from my beautiful Omega. Then it popped up briefly in front of it (and then also lost something) and then it was that. He then lost a lot of oil, then he was towed away. Since then he is standing around in my garage, so…. To the car: -2.0 16v -bj.1996 -170000km -new wired tree -new TÜV -new air volume meter Now my ask: -Would that be worth it at all if I were to replace the engine now ?, because the stop also has a very nice interior equipment (so beige leather equipment and also everything electr., sliding roof, ash heating, on-board computer, and and and …) and only 2 years ago has been repainted ( Irmscher Spoiler complete ). -If a piston would be broken you could build that org.how? -And if, what would that cost me ? -Or should I rather sell it like that ? and if so what would be I would like to thank you in advance for your helpful answer….

  • Why no display for passing beam in V60

Hello. In my V60 (Bj 2011) I don’t have an indicator for dipped-beam in the cockpit. This is disturbing insofar as I don’t have autom. light. Everything is automatic in the car, only the light is not. The vehicle has a daytime running light next to the xenon, which is active when the driving light is switched off. Is that normal? Especially – as already said: no external brightness dependent dipped-beam – the vehicle already measures the outdoor light – e.g. for instrument lighting. thank you for a few explanatory WO Greetings, Thorsten.

  • Beating sounds from left in right curves – Domlager defective?

Yes, it is again a “noise-out-of-wheelhouse” fred. Sorry for that, but with the search I did not find Fred who describes my problem. Problem: In mostly slow right curves (90-degree curve in 30-zones e.g.) it clacks very strongly from the left front. It sounds as if something was loose and a screw had at least 1 cm of play. Heavyest noises! In left curves similar sounds come from rehts front, but not so violent. 1. Solution approach: Coupling rods and track rod heads completely renewed. Also axle cuffs outside renewed (drive shaft completely out had and joints controlled – everything ok). No improvement. Everything seems to be fixed and intact in the visible area of the wheelhouse. However, these noises will only come up in curves. If I drive straight out, there is nothing to beat even with large ground waves. Could it be the cathedral bearings after all? Shouldn’t defective cathedral bearings be noticed somehow even with straight-forward journeys Make it cash?
