  • Volvo doesn’t get really warm

Hello again… great that this works so well with the forum. Now I noticed something else with my Volvo. Again the data: 850 2,5 10V, year 3/94 and 196tkm I drove 140km highway at -3C outdoor temeperature. I noticed that the temperature indicator is almost not moving at all…In the interior it gets warm, but normally the display should go further higher when driving on the highway and the interior should heat up properly. the city, the needle moves and the car gets warmer, although the display only goes just above the first line, but when driving on the highway it even falls under the first line. Is this normal? An acquaintance of mine drives the 940, which has the same problem. Is it the thermostat? He does not lose water, are also no bubbles in the balance tank.

  • What oil after tuning?

Hello guys, I laughed at a new engine and various attachments and conversion measures a month ago, which I am looking forward to and which should be in place in My Keke Rosberg Edition until April. It is a C20NE, is made/is: Head 6/10 planned LX90 camshaft Irmscher suction tube ducts processed and adapted to fan manifolds Fan manifolds Short translated F16, since the original has not understood so well with the differential anyway. next year to be coordinated with the chip, test bench and punch on the petrol pressure regulator, just everything that belongs to it But now my question, which oil do you take for such an engine? He gets the planned head immediately on the face, is there a 5w40 instead of 10w40 maybe better? Many have tested it and find it bad, I have to say the engine sweats a little bit at the oil pan, that gets even worse with thinner oil. fz Mechatroniker) recommended to me then 5w30, but that seems very Spanish to me, another thinks 10w sends already and depending on the vote would be 10w60 vlt even the better choice (higher speeds etc, I like to drive in itself fast, but not only under full speed, however the C20NE is not blessed with forging pistons or other parts that are suitable for high Drwh numbers) . Who of you can give me a tip or maybe have a similar setup? The previous owner is with the mot or even only 10w40. Should I stick with it?

  • Traction problems XC90

Moin moin, I have a question about the all-wheel drive from the XC90. I, or mostly my wife, drive an XC90 2.5 T Geartronic Mj.2007. Since the car is rather a cruiser than a racer, I have hardly noticed the described situation so far. That the XC90 in normal operation is a front-wheeler and the rear axle only switched on if necessary, was actually known to me. Our car, however, behaves somewhat in this regard in my opinion. the front tires turn fully through until after a few tire turns the traction control intervenes and the performance controls away. When I tried yesterday how this behaves when switched off, the tires turned off in 2 gears until the switching process, a force distribution to the rear axle was not noticeable. The all-wheel typical “road catapulting” goes completely off our car, and fast start is rather embarrassing, since the car this usually with loud tire quilts evenly A few months ago, the automatic transmission was changed, which might be related to it?? It can’t actually be on the tyres, as these are new (Conti UHP 235/65R17). So my question is whether any of you have had similar experiences. MfG

  • Function Lufi hot air valve

Hello together, since my moose doesn’t really pull on the mountain, I looked at the warm air flap at Lufi. Result: The thermostat works (fön) and the warm air flap closes in the test. However, I’m not sure if the function also works during the ride. By pulling off the warm air riffle hose there was at least subjectively already a little more passage – if you can say that with the engine. In my version suction cups (106,10V, MJ 97) are on the lid of the luf i Box 2 connections for “slurry”. One goes from the lid to the thermostat, the other is missing with me – I guess there should be a connection between the engine / suction bridge and Lufi box. Unfortunately, I don’t know since when this is missing, since the Lufi box had to be out several times already. Is the connection to the thermostat as seen on the picture correctly connected (so the top)? Are both “slurry” necessary for the correct function of the thermostat? And if yes, w o is the connection on the motor side? Another consideration: Just put the warm air flap to death, as it is not relevant for gas operation (LPG), even as spring is approaching. What do you mean. Thank you and good driving.

  • Accident V50 2.0 TDI D3 request help

Hello together, I almost broke everything in front of me in a crash (not the engine). I then brought the car to Volvo for an estimate. … the bad awakening came then…9000 Euros want to have and alone 7000 are estimated for the parts! The car is only 5 years old and only 80000 driven, I would like to drive it on but a repair of 9000 is the madness… now my questions: 1. Can I light the two defective active xenon r also replaced against non-active ones? Because one alone costs around 800 euro.. I don’t care about the curvature light 2. Where do I get decent spare parts that can also be paid for? 3. Is there a tip regarding GOOD accessories? It doesn’t always have to be the original. 4. Wss would have such a vehicle much of residual value? I’m looking forward to your answer…

  • LMO Theme No 999

Dear Volvo fans, a lot of contributions have already been written about this topic, so many that I no longer have the overview, so here’s my question as follows: With my V70 R AWD (year 1997) the ABS and TRACS OFF lamp is burning permanently since today. After a longer service life (about 4 months), I moved the moose again last Friday, while about 30km were burning the two control lights, I thought spontaneously of a crappy ABS sensor. I thought, great, the problem has been solved. I drove away from home again this morning and the two lights burn again. When the exhaust gas test was done and read out the error memory for a short time, it says that the ABS pump is defective. The error cannot be deleted. I have now read in various articles that even if this is not possible, the error is not correct. the lights no longer run out, the ABS control unit had to be soldered after, or at least the error was on the ABS control unit. And not as diagnosed, the ABS unit or the ABS pump. Normally this error indicates the burning of several lights (including engine control lamp), as well as partly the failure of the speedometer and the emergency running operation, so I also knew it from an earlier V70 of me. Now my question: Are there different symptoms for the same problem? Problem case 1: ABS and TRACS OFF lights burn permanently. Problem case 2: ABS, TRACS OFF and motor control lamp burn, speedometer fails, motor electronics falls into emergency running program. Do both problem cases point to a defective ABS control unit? I don’t want to know now how to fix one or the other problem, but only a qualified statement whether in both cases the same error exists. Thank you very much for your help.

  • Volvo 850 Wheel Bearings Change or Resize Possible?

Hello user, with my parents-in-law the wheel bearing at the front of the driver’s side makes noise. Would you like to take a closer look at this today and since I don’t have much on my hat with Volvo, I would rather ask in advance here. Unfortunately I don’t know the level of the volume! But can I pull the wheel bearing or help fatter what, or does the 850 only ask for an exchange? If exchange, I can do this with Abziegher myself or rather drive to the workshop and what costs are in Thanks for your answers. Oh yes the 850 is year 93, 2.5 ltr. 5 Zyl. Greeting Andy
