  • 1987 Cadillac Allante headlights for German approval

Hello dear forum, I have a Cadillac Allante from 1987; but at present still without German approval. For the full acceptance I need in Germany approved headlights, which, to my knowledge, never existed for the Allante / nowhere. I was told that the only possibility for this is a light technical report (four digits). Is there no other alternative? Does any of you have an idea / experience with the Allante in this respect and can I use it I would be very grateful to you for your help! Marc

  • GM Tech 2 or Clone

Hello guys, I’ve probably made bullshit with my brake system. The ABS block and the brakes have to be ventilated. I’ve heard that GM Tech 2 should be used for many years. I’ve seen it before. it’s balanced with gold. Now I’d have some questions about it. What do you need to do about GM Tech 2? I’ve also heard about a clone. Can it be the same as the original device? Are there any other devices? I got an offer. 99 Euro. For a 2-3 times application too expensive. Thank you in advance for your ideas.

  • What insurance for a US-oldtimer without garage (Cadillac DeVille 1989)

Hello! What kind of insurance do you have for your US-Oldie? The problem is that I don’t have a garage and your closed area is not always guaranteed. Then he would be standing in a private parking lot in front of a terraced house. I don’t find any insurance that does not require at least one CarPort. Maybe one or the other has a tip? I hate to lose the protection because he was standing in the square in front of the house overnight and stole or a Burned. Greetings Dennis

  • Idling okay, but starting from 1200-1500 rpm he loses ignition

All vacuum hoses are new and correctly laid, the ignition without vacuum at 8 degrees, on the carburettor I have already adjusted the mixture in every direction. The idleness sounds also somewhat and I have on the cylinders between 10,3 and 11 bar. Distribution fingers, cap, ignition cable and candles are new. If I give gas, then it comes with a short clean, then it starts to spit slowly and with an estimated 120 0-1500 rpm (I unfortunately only have a contactless tachometer) it sounds as if it only ignites one half of the distributor. Any idea? I’m already trying to buy a completely new distributor right away… Thanks and Greetings Chris

  • Conti Sport Contact 5 completely worn after 18,000 km!!!

Hello, it can be quite that the topic has been addressed more often. Nevertheless, I would be very grateful for a quick answer. I drive an Audi A3 Limousine 2.0 TDI with front drive and hand-operated. I am a commuter and drive 150 km a day. The vehicle has now run 18,000 km and the front tyres are worn almost to minimum profile depth. At the back are still about 5-6mm. Continental Sport Contact 5p are mounted. The tire size is 235/35 R19 Y. I I have a sports suspension with Magnetic Ride. Is it normal for the front tyres to leave so fast? I drive 90 % motorway with 110-130 km/h. Basically I’m just rolling. On average I consume 5.2 l diesel. What I noticed recently: If I take the gear out of the car on a slight gradient, the rolling resistance is so strong that the vehicle loses speed. Is that normal? Thank you!

  • All year round driving all weather or winter tires?

Moin people If you have a little driven second car, you don’t want to change the tires every six months. Now I wonder what’s better: Should you drive with all-weather tyres or winter tyres all year round? What I know is that the wear of winter tyres is higher in summer. What I also know is that winter tyres offer more safety than all-weather tyres in winter. And what I also know is that winter tyres often have worse characteristics in rain than summer riding. I don’t know how the all-weather tires behave here. Still on our situation: We currently have aluminium rims with worn out summer tires and steel rims with good winter tires. So it would be easier for us to pull the winter tires on the aluminiums now than to sell the winter tires and buy all-weather tires for the aluminiums. The question is: What would make sense in our situation now? I’m looking forward to your opinions. Greetings, E.T.chen

  • Wheel imbalance vs. disc impact

Hello, I’ve been having the problem since about a week that the steering wheel trembles more easily while driving and when braking, in an area of 120-140km/h. I recently got new tyres as well as the brakes (both about 8,000km on top), which is why theoretically an imbalance on the wheel or a disc hit of the brake disc could be considered. I also did a driving safety training with the vehicle a week ago including several full brakes. today I measured with a measuring clock, the left one has max. 0.01mm side stroke, the right one has max. 0.03mm side stroke, which is actually still in tolerance. When I made the brakes both 0.01mm. I did not have the wheels tested yet, I wanted to replace the tyres from the front to the back for the test, but then I will only come next weekend. What is your guess? My consideration would have to be a side impact on the windows. make every speed noticeable, or what are your experiences?

  • Nexen N8000 vs. Barum Bravuris 3

Hello together, need for my second car, a grande punto with 65 ps, new summer tires. read me a bit and have decided for two models. to a Barum Bravuris 3 HM FR 205/50 R16 86V and on the other hand Nexen N-8000 XL 205/50 R16 91W The nexen is at 4 piece about 35€ even cheaper. are the mature equivalent. if the nexen is worse I wouldn’t think about it, since I don’t care the 35€. if the differences are minimal, then I would nexen I’m sure you’ve got some advice for me. thank you and thank you very much.

  • Engine noise in tweeters

hello have the following problem: when I start the engine, the tweeters give his sound (quiet) again, according to the speed. I already read older contributions to this topic, but would like to post it here anyway, because I have already checked the most likely sources of error. the worst thing is: I bought new chinch cables and put them across the car over the seats, after that the noise was even stronger! how is that, or what bothers the transmission? ndreas

  • Search for TÜV Parts Assessments

Hello guys, does one of you drive this rim:https://www.ls-felgendesign.de/…/…-summer tires-265-30zr22_184.php on his Audi A8 D3-4E and may have the corresponding TÜV part report, which allows a registration of the rims/wheels with the tire dimension – 265/30 R22 97Y – on the A8 D3-4E according to §19.3? The rim is distributed by the company LS – rim design. The background is that I just used this rim in a very good condition to a reasonable cure. However, the seller did not have the report. Yes, I already called at the company rim design. However, I would like to pay the price they called for the report. Therefore my request to you. If you should have this report, then I would be happy to receive a feedback from you. Thank you! Greeting René
