Hello, I’ve almost become a fan of low or entry-level engines in the meantime. I always like the V70III better, even though I still couldn’t drive it in the 2.0D version. What I noticed is that the small diesel engine is not available with automatics. First I was disappointed. Today I get the information that Ford will install the new 6-speed “Power Shift Dopplungsgerriebe” in the new Focus in early 2008 at the 2.0TDCI for the first time. So could it be that Volvo will also get access to this transmission and therefore is only in wait?! Who has experienced a DSG that is not only more economical and comfortable, but also that one can move a vehicle very sportyly. There should say again Ford brings nothing to Volvo ….. Greeting Martin

V70 III really a swallowing woodpecker ???
Hello dear elk community, I follow these pages as often as I can. Unfortunately, for reasons of time I can only rarely participate. Especially the contributions to the consumption of the new V70 ́s or XC70 ́s interest me very much at the moment, since my V70 D5 II. elk is slowly getting older. So a new elk has to come. However, when I read from you, the consumption values (V70 and XC70 III), I am quite unsure. My V70 D5 from 2002 consumption at 140-150 km/h (BAB) under 7 liters. You don’t have to drive so defensively or even “sleep” for it. My wife created even 6-6,1 liters. (of course, then slower) Did someone already get from you to drive the new V70 under or by 7 liters? (of course without a traffic change to have become?) Are the factory figures still realistic at all? Then, what does the XC70 III or the AWD have to consume? If the new really consume between 8.5-10 liters, then maybe I have to think about a bit of a bit of a bit more than a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.

Alfa Spider – Timing belt change?
Guuude Motorfreaks, came to this page while browsing and found out that there is a lot of expertise gathered here. I have a very specific question about my Alfa Spider 2.0 TS (EZ 9/2002): My Bella Maccchina is now about 4.5 years old and has 52,000 km down. My workshop has now meant that you have to change the timing belt at the latest at 60,000 km or at an age of 5 years. Since the proper rod costs money, I wanted to get a second (and third, fourth, …) opinion, whether this is true or if they want to generate only early order. Thank you in advance for your answers Greeting from Main

Alfa 2.0 TS extremely strong engine noise
Hello, maybe there’s one more idea. I bought a used Spider Bj. 2000 with engine damage. The engine jumped normally and ran a little unround in idle. With increased idle and more there are quite loud noises to hear. This one has felt in the cylinder head. It’s not the typical nailing of the phase adjuster. So, after careful checking I noticed that the cable was eaten off from the camshaft sensor. This I soldered again and started the engine again. Now it was that the noises were heard already in idle, besides, you got the impression that the engine somehow jammed easily. It runs so slightly jerky. After that I controlled the stuer times, these were ok. After that I did not dismantle the cylinder head. Head gasket is ok, nowhere burned. I still expanded all 16 valves, no spring broken, no valve crooked, no seat deformed. Everything was fine. The engine block looks very good in the combustion room. The piston can also be overly fixed. The piston shaft has a problem.

S80 – Cracking during load change (pre- and reset)
Hello Volvo driver, for a short time my S80 has had a relatively loud cracking in the range of the right drive shaft, drive shaft joints, wheel mount (at least in this area). This happens when I park for example and set back and forward. If I drive backwards, there is a unique cracking. If I then switch into the first gear and let the clutch come, it cracks again. It feels as if there is a certain game in the drive train. At least this reports my highly sensitive popometer. The cracking occurs also in this context of the advance and reset. Otherwise there is peace of mind. First investigations showed that the tap of the drive shaft in the wheel hub should be used again with Loctite. However, it should not be worrying (so the master of my Volvo workshop). Can anyone share this experience or even confirm it? Greeting to all Volvo enthusiasts S-eighty

XC90 Ocean Race D5 – Question about offer and DPF
Hello everyone. I drove an S80 until 2009 and rather by chance saw a nice XC90 at a dealer who jumped right into my eye. What do you think about this offer: XC90 D5 Ocean Race, 185PS, hand switch, Blaumet., Xenon, PDC, telephone, e. seats, driver seat with memory, cruisemat, disks darkened at the rear, level control, 5 seaters, etc. EZ: 08/2008, approx. 57.000km, 1. Hd., checkbook, makes a very well-kept – almost new impression. It should cost including new TÜV and 1 year warranty 28,000.-€. At the moment I drive a Zafira petroler, because I had serious problems with a passat with DPF. Actually I don’t want any more diesel, but the Xruck90 as a petroler will probably be a bit more expensive in maintenance. My question is now how it looks at the D5(185PS) on a long view, if you drive only country road? I have a duty of approx. 25km.

Change XC60 D3/D4 fuel pump
Our otherwise very reliable XC60 Diesel doesn’t like to start any more. Completely fault-free off, he nudged the following day and didn’t jump any more. The Yellow Angel diagnoses “fuel pump”, which sits very advanced on the tank top of this model. Unfortunately not accessible from the interior. So all kinds of things have to be removed from below and finally dismantled the tank. Is there by chance someone in the forum who has already done this procedure before? I would be happy about all the tips! Greeting Smaxx

Ventilation smells like cowshed with a cold engine?
Hello, I bought my T roc Sport at the end of January this year. Since about July it stinks from the ventilation to cowshed. Where it was still so hot, I have almost always used the air conditioning. From time to time I started the car a nasty cowshed smell came to me from the ventilation. I thought maybe because I have not used the ventilation for a long time.. only air conditioning. Now since September I notice it extremely because I did not use the air conditioning. Every time the car has stood for a long time e.g. one night in the garage and I then hit it. Came every time this smell. So only by the normal ventilation. So as soon as I am a few kilometers of danger the smell disappears Have me at the car house where I have bought it and there was then a motor wash carried out, the man would have cleaned everything there and searched for animals. However, the smell has remained unsuccessful. Today I have an appointment there again and the employee said that he does not know what to do but the parts and that no one would pay me. I would have only had to blame the car park for it.

Swiss special designs at 960?
Hello, I’m not quite new, already had an account in the V70 forum, but it doesn’t work anymore. I finally bought the Volvo, which I’ve always wanted, a 960 combo (2.5/Bj. 95/Automatik). The car has always been registered in Switzerland. I would be interested to know if anyone knows if there were special equipment versions for Switzerland. Because the car has beside the usual chrome strip at the bottom of both sides still an approx. 1 cm wide decorative line (chrom-coloured, but no chrome strip) just below the windows from the rear to the front. Have seen on the internet pictures from 960s, which also have such a decorative line. In addition, at the back of the rear flap below the Volvo and 960 letterings is also such a decorative line plus a very narrow red strip and a sticker. Is this rather “Bastelei” from an earlier owner of the car or was something like that on a possible special model for Switzerland. See photos. Otherwise, the decorating largely corresponds to the “Prestige” version according to 960-model year 1995.
