  • The Brake Mystery

  • TÜV – significant defect headlight cleaning system

    Hello! I just saw that the TÜV rated the lack of my headlight cleaning system (wiper arms) as a considerable lack! I thought it was only Xenon and LED so!? The joke is that I’ve been driving for over 6 years without. 3 past tests without this complaint. Why did he do that?     Hello forum community, my V70 will soon be 4 years old. I had a small ignition problem recently where it was -1°C in the morning – after pressing the start button it took much longer until the engine started. But it was only one time, otherwise the car starts without any problems. Now you often read that the car batteries end their life cycle after 4 to 5 years and you should think of a change before you get problems in the winter. My KfZ master of trust thinks this is nonsense. If you don’t get serious problems, a high quality as it is built in, so 7 years. How are your experiences, when was the car battery changed with you before it has given up the mind?   • Total failure of electronics

    We were in Spain for 3 months now, until then everything ran wonderful! On the return trip, just before our hotel in Dijon (France) we had a total failure of the electronics. 130 Km/h Tempomat AB right side, engine went off, all warning lights on. In the display „Motor flaw……. Luckily, directly to an emergency stop bay with emergency column. I could not turn off the start/stop button. After approx. 30min. the Grandland nevertheless took over the start/stop button. International ADAC notified, tows brought us to the hotel. There the mechanic of the car was able to start again! All warning lights off! In the display was shown: vehicle is in ECO mode??? The next day I had to the Opel workshop there. Luckily, only in 60 km radius. Unfortunately, only sellers had to be informed about it on Saturday! The seller then had been informed about entertainment display some parameters of the vehicle and told us: We could go to Germany, but I should already read and reset the error memory there. By now, I had not received a message about Opel service on Monday.

  • Volvo V50 T5 AWD driver.. Questions about driving behavior.

I have now a month.. before almost twenty years a Impreza Turbo with permanent 4WD driven. So.. yesterday was in the snow (on dirt roads where with my Impreza no problem). Resumee: Half lung ignition and cut hands through foot mats and branches put under the wheels. I didn’t come along. Bauer had to rough myself with tractor… and he also nicely smashed the whole plastic covering under the engine. But anyway… did I want to test something so much to test the 4WD. But by the way I was really stuck in the snow, I also saw how the 4WD reacts.. and he doesn’t react at all! The front wheels just spin through! If I give a strong gas, turn to it… so late? Then I’m going to support it too late? But I’s like that I’m going to do some physics.

  • Buy Saab 9-3 1.8 Arc or Vectra-C 1.8 Cosmo?

    Hello, my Opel dealer has offered me today a new Vectra-C Lim (Cosmo) 1.8l 125 hp and as an alternative a Saab 9-3 Lim version (Arc) 1.8l 122 hp. Both vehicles are built on the same platform, the dealer’s estate is identical whether Opel or Saab, in the final sum both do not differ. Also from the service costs there are no significant differences, the intervals are the same, also price differences in spare parts and work specifications there are. Dealers do not really – you notice very quickly – the two models differ only by the body and a different logo. The Saab seems slightly fresher from the styling, and has three years warranty (that’s new) – the Opel only two. It is probably more a “abnormal feeling”, because really decisive reasons for a model have not been discovered, or is there any one that I currently don’t think of? What reasons speak pro or contra Opel or Saab?

How does it look with the running costs? Is the car very vulnerable to repairs? From what mileage does it not pay any more? I found a few offers starting from 15,000 euros, but with a right high mileage. I would drive the car very long, until it can afford to give me the answers, if you can even recommend a car with a gross fee?
