  • Mini Cooper Countryman (136 hp), driving report

    Hello, I’ve been at Motor Talk for a long time but for the first time at Mini. Good day. We think to buy a new Countryman and have therefore made today a test drive with a Cooper with manual transmission. Are already older and the higher sitting position suits us very much. In short, my expectations have been exceeded. Very good handling with front drive. There were 17″ rims with 225 tires mounted, very good road position, nevertheless quite comfortable, had a tight driving But I am used to BMW driver and tight suspension. The automatic air conditioning system is efficient, the parking beepers with display on the display were very loud, but can be quieter. The sports seats are good and should definitely be clean according to the seller. The 3-cylinder engine is surprisingly quiet and gets louder only from 4000 rpm, so I was very positively surprised. The 136 hp are enough for us, mainly short distance and only sometimes longer. But if it is then around the outside arbe goes, it gets tight, for us actually only the standing color moonwalk grey with black roof remains. Red only looks good with the smaller minis, the countryman does not stand in our opinion. So in my opinion too few colors to choose from. Thanks for reading. ciao olderich

    Hello together. I was on a performance test stand with my Clio RS (Bj 11/2005) this morning. Now to the procedure: He drives the car on the wheels, puts exhaust air hoses behind the exhaust, sits down and does the test. He says that he did the measurement in 5th gear at 200 km/h. In 5 gears say and write 95KW on the front axle, plus 22KW for transmission, coupling etc. So we come in the end to 117kw(159hps)! Nominal power according to the letter is however 132!!KW(17 9hp)..makes a difference of 15KW (20hp). Super, right? Now the questions to you: – Is the test not normally done in the 4th gear? – Shouldn’t a blower run in front of the engine compartment to feed fresh air to the engine and protect against overheating? Less oxygen means worse combustion, so less power? – Of course I also called Renault and asked what should happen now. Renault requires a second test.. Costs should I take over.. n..is that OK? What happens if I am more than 10% during the second measurement? Will the engine be replaced or what will happen? – How much tolerance does such a dynamometer have?     Hello together, we bought an Ibiza 6L BJ 2004 as second car one and a half years ago. When buying a car a bit more money was invested in the technology, so that we should bring the car really easily 2-3 times over the TÜV. The climate (freshly filled) worked great at first. After half a year no cold air came any more. But pressure is still on it (if you push on the valves it hisssssss strongly). But it was striking that the climate light after pressing after a few seconds has elapsed. A little later I had the same effect with the reciprocating air button, where I have heard a unique adjustment. Meanwhile, the lights don’t do anything anymore when you press the buttons. When the climate is supposed to be switched on, you don’t notice that the speed is sinking / fluctuating. I therefore suspect that the compressor is not switched on at all. Since the reciprocating air button is in the meantime also without function (you don’t hear any switching and it lights up). Nothing), I also don’t recommend a problem with the compressor or capacitor (one of them was also quite new) but a problem with electrics/electronics. Do you have tips for me what I can check?
