  • Ford 351 Reassembly, Who has tips regarding base engine

Hello together, I would like to start my new project soon. To be called: 73 Ford Capri with 351 V8. Actually I wanted to do it with a 460, but then decided for space, cost and weight reasons for a small block. Besides, I think that the car is then no longer mobile. I finally decided for a 351W. I would like to buy the engine a Edelbrock Top end kit. More (for the first time) not. Therefore a question to the Ford professionals here: Gives I’ve been on the road for a long time, but the statements are sometimes very different. Supposedly the 69-74s should be better, because you can install 4 Bolt main caps here. Since I want to buy a block with future potential, that would of course be the better choice. As I know myself, I am back on the Stroker trip or Turbo after a year Can I drive the series block with Top end kit at all, or is the crankshaft on the road at the first speed up? I am a car mechanic with 15 years of experience, have already overtaken some engines (usually 4 cylinders), but US V8ers are rather new. But don’t worry, I will get enough reading and get help with tricky things But first I need a clever base motor. Have a nice evening.

  • Thm 350 gearbox from 301 Turbo ’80 Firebird T/A

Moin people, I’m not really knowledgeable about postings in forums, but I’ve already had the search engine ratter and found nothing on my topic, if there is something to do, I ask for a look and a hint… the following problem is up, I have an 80s 301 Trans Am. There had to be fixed some problems on the engine for that I didn’t lift the engine including the gearbox (Thm 350) out of the TH 350 C. After completion of the Engine and overhaul of the gearbox (change seals, insert new filters and replace oil, the converter has also come new and was filled with oil until it runs out of the scar in the vertical state Dexron3 standard) the unit was assembled outside first converter on transmission, this on motor and then the converter adjusted. Then kickdown cable and vacuum hose again connected with vacuum system or gasifier rocker. After that the unit was lifted again and ve The motor runs well with 700/min in the stationary gas and there is also no leak in the vacuum system. The transmission oil was filled up until the marking of the marking rod and measured in the course was inserted during the neutral. So I took it from sources. However, the transmission does not build up any torque or transmits it any further from the motor…the further is funny , that the oil cooler pipes do not carry any oil where there should actually be enough oil inside. however, I would not weather on it that the marking rod original of a THM 350 is that happens with such old boxes already. Well, however I have described the problem here once in detail , someone has had similar problems with this series since it is one of the most built gearboxes and was also installed in Corvetten etc. . Or someone knows someone de I thank you in advance and I am eagerly looking forward to Franky

  • VRC, ESP

Hello, I have the impression that both VRC and ESP do not work properly with my CV D-Cat. It is almost impossible to drive quickly on wet roads without the wheels turning off in the second gear. In spite of new winter tyres, it is almost impossible to prevent the wheels from turning through despite the gentlest handling of the accelerator pedal. Also, on wet roads with a brisk driving pattern, the ESP uses on a curvy track (warm flashes and it beeps), ic h, however, cannot detect any effect of the ESP. The vehicle pushes over the front wheels and it doesn’t really matter whether ESP is switched on or off. It can only be stabilized if one goes from the gas or decouples. The dealer says that can’t be because the fault memory would not show a message. Does anyone have similar experiences? (To prevent funny comments I would like to mention that I have been driving for almost 30 years and certainly have a driving practice of 500.00 km. be also with my previous cars like BMW 535i and Volvo 940, both of which had no traction control, despite rear drive never had the problems described above).

  • New VERSO with 1.8 L petrol engine (Valvematic) sufficient?

Hello dear forum, we are faced with the decision to hand over our 3 year old Corolla Verso D-CAT (Diesel, 177 HP) (Leasing End) and to buy a new one. With the VERSO as a car we are in principle (equipment) satisfied. The new D-CAT does not come into question because we drive almost 90% short distance in the city and in the last 6 months had very big problems with the free burning of the soot particle filter (see the thread below). In contrast, the acceleration values of the D-CAT were always great. We would like to decide now for the new 1.8 L petrol engine with 147 hp – unfortunately there is no useful test report for this engine in the entire network except for a (very negative) article of the ADAC? According to my information this engine should also be installed in the new Avensis (since 01/2009 in D on the market) – but here I found nothing useful (also not in the Avensis forum here on the page). W he from the Moto experts can tell us whether this engine offers reasonably reasonable driving performance? It does not matter to us at the top speed, but rather the elasticity when overtaking (e.g. acceleration from 80 km/h to 120 km/h etc.). According to the ADAC report at least in the Avensis a transmission should be installed, which has a very long translation in the 5th and 6th gear – not exactly optimal for short sprints. Thanks in advance to all who can say something about this. Stefan

  • Onboard computer Corolla Verso. Correct consumption calculation.

Hello, I observe with me that the average consumption indicator shows about 5 – 12 % less than I actually calculate when refueling. I have already read from Mazda 5 and Auris that there is a possibility there to set a deviation in percent, which should always be taken into account, so that if you then have enough data about your own car (e.g. after 5 – 10 tank fillings), then we can say that always 10% should be added to it. h goes at Corolla Verso? I bought the car built in 2008, actually 2009, probably built in December 2008. MfG cvontour

  • Gear damage Verso D Cat

Hello together, must admit, I’m a little disappointed. Buy me a Toyota because this should be very reliable. just after an odysse with Opel not a bad consideration. But after 20,000 !!! km a transmission damage was diagnosed. Ok can come to every car brand, will certainly not change the brand, because I am in total very satisfied with my dare. But that can not be normal. Have you had similar experiences? Everything started with a sc Hinting noise, which disappeared with the clutch, and increased with a clear bearing noise in idle. Greeting Thomas

  • Dead angle and aspheric mirror

Does the RRE have a large blind angle in the exterior mirrors? Are the exterior mirrors aspherical, i.e. divided into two parts with an area for the blind angle? I did not pay attention to this during the test drive before ordering my RRE MJ 2016 and also did not order the dead angle assistant, because in addition to the 650,- € the price thus increases by an additional 1,760,- € for the necessary “12 times electrically adjustable seats with memory function” and the “outside mirrors – with memory function I think this is unreasonably expensive. My previous cars all had the aspheric mirrors on both sides as standard and I had (almost) no blind spot at all. Is there any other way in the accessory trade? I haven’t found anything about it yet.

  • Start-stop-automatik goes at the 9-speed-Aut. Gearbox much too early again….

Hello, since Nov. 13 I have the Evoque with 190hp and the new 9-speed automatic transmission. I have the problem that the start-stop automatic always leaves the engine much too early again, although I have not moved the foot noticeably at all. Even with the highest concentration, full of power this does not work. For my taste this setting can not be normal. How is this with you???? Before a gear shift this was of course no problem. ht with start stop. Thanks for a feedback! 🙂

  • Change TPMS setpoint

Hello Together, after a good 15 years Audi A4 I have been the proud owner of an Evoque TD4 Pure technology for a week after a total damage. The original winter bikes are stored and a 20 inch summer tire set Style 9 have been installed. The wheels are also from a new car and have the original TPMS sensors. Now to my question: The tyre pressures of the tyres are recognized and are also correctly displayed in the vehicle information menu: 2,7/2,7 and 2,4/2,4 bar. the target value (i.e. the value in brackets) is still shown for the 18 inch winter tyres: 2.4/2.4 and 2.1/2.1 bar. Must the new wheel set be learned. And if so, is this only possible through the service? That means every time you change your bike to a friendly one? Thank you for your answer in advance. LG and a nice weekend! Norbert
